Fourball spilles av fire spillere samtidig, med to på hvert lag. Alle spillerne spiller på hver sin ball, men kun det beste resultatet innenfor hvert lag på hvert hull blir tellende. Spilleformen åpner gjerne for en mer taktisk spillemåte, der én av spillerne kan spille med større risiko, mens den andre forsøker å spille sikkert.
